Land Preparation
The mechanization project is a Government of Sierra Leone initiative which is designed to support smallholder farmers to increase rice production and attain sustainable sufficiency in food and nutrition.
With subsidies for mechanized land preparation, Future Farms help plough, harrow and seed harrow land for over one thousand farmers in all the 12 chiefdoms in Bombali District.
The aim of the project is to expand the areas under cultivation and increase yields across larger areas. Not only will this improved practice result in higher crop yields, and ultimately improve livelihoods and food security in our rural communities.
